Welcome To Our Official Church Website

Fellowship Bible Church (FBC) is the friendliest small church in Venice. We are excited that you are checking us out to see what we’re all about. FBC is here for you. We are not just a church; we are a family of believers coming together to declare the glory of the Lord, and to celebrate Jesus as King. We study the Word through practical Bible teaching, practice what we learn, and in the process grow together. May God richly bless you! May the Lord bless you and keep you! We hope to see you soon!

As of Friday May 22, 2020
Regarding reopening church: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
I am sharing my current thoughts. I’m pretty settled with what you will read regarding reopening church. Been doing a lot of thinking, praying, and researching. Although we are eager to return to whatever our new “normal” will be, we are not in a hurry to push things. Here the latest:

We will remain online until the first Sunday in July. Reasons for that include: 1. Our safety and sanitizing supplies that are on order will not arrive until mid-June, 2. we will be gone for the last two Sunday’s in June for a pre-planned family vacation with our kids. (We will be driving to SC to a secluded cabin on a lake-no planes, no motels.) I think it would be poor planning to gather together for 2 weeks in June and then shut down again until we returned two weeks later. 3. online services are currently working well and are being viewed by many and the feedback suggests that the services are being well received. 4. The longer we wait, the more we will be informed as to the current status of the virus and all the governmental regulations/mandates/suggestions. 5. I have put considerable time into researching having “drive-in” church in the parking lot. There are too many factors to list, but to do it for only 2 or 3 weeks before we would reopen in July seems like ‘not enough bang for our buck’. I believe we can patiently wait for July 5th. 6. We will miss our June 21st Father’s Day Sunday and 19th church anniversary. We’ll make up for it in July with some kind of a big party.

WE WILL BE CONSTANTLY MONITORING THE CDC UPDATES. WE WILL BE FOLLOWING OUR NATIONAL AND STATE GUIDELINES IN REFERENCE TO THE “PHASES” OF REOPENING OUR COUNTRY. THE CDC AND THE STATE OF FL ARE STILL IN PHASE 1 OF THE REOPENING STRATEGY.

When we do reopen, what will it look like:

  1. We will have one service at 10:00 am
  2. We will require that face masks be worn by everyone entering the building.
  3. We will have automatic hand-sanitizing stations available at 2 locations in the building.
  4. Face masks will be provided at the door for anyone that does not have one.
  5. We will not have any bulletins or our information display table available.
  6. We will continue to encourage that your giving be done through the mail. There will be a bucket/basket in the back of the church for those that want to drop in a check or cash when you come to church.
  7. There will not be any coffee service or snacks available.
  8. We will have everyone enter in the same door and exit at a different door.
  9. We will not be having a  “Welcome” time. No hugs or hand shakes. I know, sorry.
 10. Obviously, we would kindly ask that anyone with any COVID symptoms please not attend.
 11. We will continue to have the services sent to our website on Sunday afternoon for any one unable to attend or uncomfortable with gathering at this time.
12. We will be purchasing 2 top notch air purifiers that will run all night on Saturday to purify the air in the building before we enter on Sunday morning.
13. AND, we will, of course, be practicing “social distancing”. We’ll have the chairs set up for families to sit together but still be the recommended 6+ feet apart.

I know this sounds extreme or severe, but at least we’ll be able to see the top half of each others faces. 😇

OBVIOUSLY, THIS COULD CHANGE DEPENDING ON THE STATUS OF THE COUNTRY, OUR STATE, AND/OR THE VIRUS.
Pray for wisdom for all of our leaders.

Pastor John & Sue will be sharing some announcements, music, prayer time and a message from God’s Word.  Pastor is currently preaching a series on the “Fruit of the Spirit” from Galatians 5. (It will be pre-recorded)

Tuesday night small group should be broadcast live on ZOOM. If you are on our church email list, you will get a weekly invitation from me to join the ZOOM meeting on Tuesday evenings. Just click on the link and you should be good to go. Please be sure that your computer speaker/volume is ON. In the bottom left hand corner of the ZOOM screen there is an icon of a microphone. If you want to be muted (we can’t hear what is happening at your location), turn that mic OFF.
We all need the personal contact; Fellowship Bible is a loving and caring family and I know we’re missing each other.
If you are unable to join us on Tuesday night for some reason, I will be including a link to the recording of the Bible study. It can be found at the top of each page under the DEVOTIONAL tab.

Normally our services are as follows:
Sunday morning @ 9:00 am we have a 45 minute time of praise and worship music for our members and friends to come in and listen and be blessed.
Sunday mornings @ 10:00 am is our weekly worship service. This includes prayer time, announcements, great singing of hymns and praise music. Pastor Meyer then shares from a challenge from the Word of God that all in attendance can “take with them” for the week ahead. We major on using the Bible to apply eternal truths to our everyday lives. We equip believers to go out and reach our world for Christ. We have a wonderful family-friendly atmosphere. There is genuine love for each other. We consider ourselves to be hospital where souls are healed, not a country club where everyone feels warm and fuzzy and happy about themselves.
Sunday mornings @ 11:15 am  At this point, we grab a quick cup of coffee and gather back for a Bible study that walks through a book of the Bible or a current topic of interest for believers.
Tuesday night Small Group Bible Study  Every Tuesday night at 6:30 we meet in the living room of Pastor John & Sue’s home for Bible Study. 6:30 is our meal time that might be pizza, subs, potatoes, tacos, soup and bread…whatever works that week. The Bible study starts at 7:00 pm. We have 20-30 people lovingly crammed into our home for a tremendous time of practical learning. This small group meets @ the Meyer’s home: 4400 Zenith Rd. Venice, FL
Women’s Book Club meets once a month at different ladies’ homes for discuss the latest book they have read. They have read a variety of books that have challenged them to take part in some great challenging discussions. Check with Sue Meyer about the exact dates and locations-and what book they are currently reading.
Saturday morning men’s small group This incredible group of men has been meeting for the past 15 years every Saturday morning. So, bright and early, at 7:00 am we gather in the back dining room of Perkin’s Restaurant in  Venice (Center Rd.) and chat and laugh and eat and study a book of the Bible. We are finishing up Proverbs; we are about to start James. We use the Navigator’s Bible study material. It’s incredibly challenging.
